Hatha Yoga and Pranayama
"Movement is the song of the body. We sing when we are happy and the body goes with it like waves in the sea." - Vanda Scaravelli
“Here in our world of human made stuff, we are out of touch with ourselves and in turn out of touch with reality. We are here in our concrete jungle, removed from the pulsing life-force of nature. Our concrete pavements and sky scraping buildings cut us off from the natural vibrations of Mother Nature. We are surrounded by technological activity, by fruitless wanderings and innate intelligence. We no longer feel the rhythm of life on Earth. We no longer can sense the sublime circling of nature and we can no longer hear our own inner instinctive essence.
Many search their entire lives for spiritual meaning and this search has taken us across space and out of time. We have chased everything from Angelic beings to Extraterrestrials. But this search has only left us feeling more alone.
The quest for fulfilment has dragged us across continents in order to “find ourselves” but in fact has left us feeling just as displaced. Masculine thinking has over-run the planet and the time has come for the feminine principle to resurface and inject a more empathetic, playful, spontaneous and gentle side to our lives.
We don’t need to frantically search for wholeness.......we need only return to our bodies to manifest the Spirit and we need only be present to access the awesome power of Heaven. Jonathan Orchard’s unique style of Yoga is both light hearted and grounded. It brings to the student a new understanding of movement and sound in which the student is encouraged to listen to their inner nature and bodies throughout the practice.
He uses a relaxed yet professional style, combined with a sense of fun and friendliness, to bring out the best in both beginner and advanced students alike. During his classes he encourages his students to notice the flow of the breath and to take their time with each asana, being present in the moment. Jonathan also runs theatrical workshops where the student can explore his/her own creativity and chaotic nature in an open and joyful manner. He uses his passion for Music and the Voice as an instrument, in which the workshops explore the Yoga of Sound.

More than a yoga teacher, Jon uses the his spirituality and awareness of sound and silence after his in depth training of pranayama, to recognise health issues and balance his students minds.
Jonathan’s vision to run yoga holidays was in order to help people recognise that the innermost awareness and space inside each and every one of us is accessible, it has just been lost in the external noise. It is for this reason that his holidays are located in beautiful and natural locations, with water close by. Jonathon uses poetry and song to help people review their beliefs and choices in life and helps them to reintegrate what they experienced on the holiday off the mat and into the world. In his own words “You come on a retreat in order to advance”.
Jonathan trained at the International Sivananda Vedanta Centre, and has been teaching yoga since the mid 1990's. He is also a qualified Holistic Massage Therapist. He has run Holidays all over the world. After spending time living in California, he moved to the Findhorn Community in Scotland where he taught for two years. He is now based at a Dynamic Yoga studio in Brighton, as well as teaching privately.
He also uses his love of entertaining and song to bring yoga to children through song, dance and stories at Kids a Go Go Yoga”.
